LISA SCHELLER ISSUES STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS SENATE VOTE
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Republican Congressional candidate Lisa Scheller tonight issued the following statement on the decision by Senate Democrats to block passage of a $2 trillion stimulus package intended to prevent a recession amidst the economic slowdown triggered by the coronavirus pandemic:
“It is beyond comprehension that the Democrats would play politics with the livelihoods of tens of millions of Americans whose economic survival hinges on the passage of the stimulus package. The Republican leadership has set aside partisanship and ideology in its move to save American employers and workers. To have this thrown back in their face in the name of political maneuvering is an insult to working families of the 7th Congressional District and across the nation.”
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s cynical announcement that she would introduce her own version of a stimulus bill signaled the likelihood of a Democrat stall that could plunge the United States into a recession or even a depression. It is important that Pelosi ally Susan Wild indicate whether she would support the Pelosi tactic or stand with working families in the 7th District and work to get the existing stimulus package enacted. This issue should be beyond petty politics. Lives and livelihoods are at stake. Will Susan Wild stand up for the people of the 7th Congressional District or side with Nancy Pelosi and her radical agenda, again?”
