ALLENTOWN, Pa. –  The Republican Jewish Coalition today endorsed congressional candidate Lisa Scheller in the June 2 Primary, calling her “the candidate who best reflects the ideals and values of democracy at home and strength abroad.”

Scheller, a former Lehigh County Commissioner and successful businesswoman, is seeking the Republican nomination for the 7th Congressional District, which comprises Lehigh and portions of Northampton and Monroe counties.

“Lisa has been a voice for progress and an example of steadfastness to the principles of free markets and free people,” said Matt Brooks, the organization’s executive director. He noted that Scheller did not hesitate to denounce anti-Semitic remarks by Democratic House members Ilhan Omar, of Minnesota, and Rashida Tlaib, of Michigan.

“The district needs a member who, unlike the current Democratic incumbent, won’t back down to people who wish ill upon the Jewish people,” Brooks said. “Anti-Semitism has no place in America, much less Congress, and there is no room for people who would appease anti-Semites.”

He cited Scheller’s strong belief in American principles and her steadfast support for Israel, the nation’s lone democratic ally in the Mideast.

Scheller said she was “delighted and humbled” by the endorsement.

“As a Republican Jewish woman and the granddaughter of Jews who immigrated here legally over 100 years ago, I will always speak up for American principles and defend our Constitution. I will not sit by idly when members of Congress make anti-Semitic remarks and support legislation that is inherently anti-Israel.,” Scheller said.
