LISA SCHELLER CALLS ON SUSAN WILD TO DENOUNCE PElOSI’S PARTISAN GAMES DURING A TIME OF NATIONAL CRISIS

Allentown, Pa – Lisa Scheller has released the following statement on the news of Nancy Pelosi’s decision to upend vital emergency legislation for her own partisan gain:

“Our national house is on fire and Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats are rushing to the scene with gasoline and kindling. After her Democratic allies in the senate blocked vital economic recovery stimulus, Pelosi introduced competing legislation packed with socialist Green New Deal policies and hidden political tactics that have nothing to do with economic recovery, and everything to do with political power and grandstanding.

“Her outrageous 1,119 page bill includes:

  • A bailout of longstanding Post Office debt
  • Required same-day voter registration
  • Provisions on union collective bargaining
  • An offset on airline carbon emissions
  • A $15 minimum wage
  • Retirement plans for newspaper employees
  • Required early voting
  • Permanent paid leave
  • New and expensive airline regulations
  • Expansion of wind and solar tax credits

“If not for this ongoing national emergency, any one of these proposals might or might not merit debate in Congress in separate legislation.  However, in the presence of a national emergency with citizens sick and dying, Nancy Pelosi is blowing up the economy and people’s lives in order to advance their absurd liberal wish list.

“This nation is the midst of a looming economic depression unlike anything we have ever experienced. Holding this vital stimulus legislation hostage is cynical, irresponsible, and a vivid example of why the American public is losing faith in its institutions. Susan Wild has, to date, remained silent on this outrageous partisan conduct, and has yet to explain whether she will continue to ride shotgun with Nancy Pelosi as she drives the American economy over a cliff.

“I call on Susan Wild to immediately denounce this behavior and urge Speaker Pelosi to immediately take up the Senate bill once it arrives at the House chamber for a vote.”
